Saturday Evening Results

After a short break out here at the Am Open at Arizona Cycle Park, motos got back underway. With races still left to go, where everyone still had a chance to win the overall, it was bound to be great racing so let’s get to it.

In the 4 Stroke 250cc and Under Non-Pro class, Eli Tomac came into the moto with the first moto win, and Jason Anderson with a 2nd. All Tomac had to do was finish in front of Anderson and he would be able to bring home the title. The gates dropped and Anderson came away with the holeshot with Tomac right behind him. Giving chase for the entire moto but never able to make a pass was Eli, and with that, Jason was able to bring home his first overall of the weekend. Eli would end up with 2nd with 3rd going to Arizona’s own Dillon Huddleston.

Mid-Size Mod Pro class got underway soon afterwards. Derek Anderson was able to pull another holeshot for the week and was able to lead the entire moto, but the race for the overall was right behind him. Buddi Bruner got a great 2nd place start with Landon Powell right behind him. Powell had finished first in the first moto while Buddi got second. If Buddi finished a head of Powell, then Bruner motorsports would take home the overall. On the first lap, Buddi made a mistake and moved back to third allowing Powell to move into second. Jumping back into the pace, Bruner was able to capitalize on a mistake by Powell a lap later in almost the exact same corner. From there, Bruner was able to bring home the championship overall, exhaust pipe hanging off and all. Powell would finish second overall, and Derek Anderson finishing third overall.

85cc Mod 14-17 class saw another 2-1 moto score beat out a 1-2 score. Austin Politelli finished second behind Mat Inda in the first moto, but in the second moto, Politelli would move to the front before the first lap was even over and would never look back. Behind him, Inda would get second with Bryce Harkey bringing in third.

In the Auto-Mod 61cc 7-9 class we had the leaders swap moto wins with the second moto winner coming out with the overall. Mitchell Falk would win the moto and with his 2-1 score, he would win the championship. Coming in second place in the moto and earning second overall was Gavin Hultman and bringing in third overall with 3-3 scores was Tanner Amarillas.
