Bruce Kenyon took the top spot in the Post Vintage 50+ class while Bobby White did the same in the Classic/Sportsman combined race at the second round of the Old School Motocross Series at Arizona Cycle Park presented by The Pit Enterprises and Canyon Honda. Using the Vintage track with a change in the start first corner, which led onto the uphill sweeping right hand corner. This series headlines the Vintage classes with the Vet and Suppost Classes added to complete a fun competitive atmosphere.

Kenyon absconded the lead at the start of the first moto over Scoot Coons and Kerry Robbins. Kenyon and Coons broke away from Robbins as they set to do battle for the next six laps. Kenyon would open a gap on the first half of the course with it’s long sweeping turns. Then on the latter half, with tighter and flatter corners, Coons would close in on the rear wheel of Kenyon. Several times Coons had the drive coming into the scoring/finish line, but he could never pull the pass on Kenyon. Kenyon and Coons finished 1 – 2 within two bike lengths of each other at the checkered flag, then Robbins came in third.

Second moto started like the first, but Coon tried to pass Kenyon on the outside of the right hand sweeper. They came down into the bowl side by side with Kenyon holding the inside line into the next turn and taking the lead. From there it was a repeat of the first moto as Kenyon held off Coons for the win and the overall.

Bobby White has been looking forward to the day of racing a series and just having fun. Though he also believes that having fun is being out in front. That is where he ended up at the start of the Classic/Sportsman combined race. From there, White’s strategy has always been this, “get out in front and go fast for two laps, then hold on and hope no one is in shape to challenge me” That is what happen in both motos as White held on to win over Jeff Zornes, Ron Monroe and Ed Kavanagh.

Scott Harris battled with Sid Noonan for the bragging rights in the 40+ Beginner class. Harris used good starts to get in front of the pack which included Noonan, Jon Miller and Rob Markham. Noonan kept pace with Harris leaving Miller and Markham to battle for third. Harris would look good in a couple of corners, gapping him from Noonan. Then Noonan would use the hills to close the distance back up on Harris. At the end Harris would hold off Noonan for each moto win, third went to Miller with Markham within three bike lengths in fourth.
