GLENDALE SX 2024 – THE PODIUM

It’s always a good time when Monster Energy Supercross comes to Glendale. Dirt Wurx has their biggest canvas to construct a track and they did not disappoint. Two sand sections, two whoop sections, and two mega long rhythm sections tested the riders all night. Check out below who bested them all and made the Glendale SX podium.

450 Podium

Ken Roczen – 1st

Ken Roczen has arguably been the fastest rider through five rounds with the worst results. The speed has been there, but could he put it up front in Glendale? Well, the only way Ken could have had a better night is if he also won the lottery. Yes, he wasn’t the fastest qualifier to make it a perfect night (he qualified 4th), but a heat race win leading to a holeshot in the main and leading it from green flag to checkered flag made it for a perfect main event. It was an emotional win and he is only 15 points out of the lead. Can he keep it going?

Jason Anderson – 2nd

Jason was the fastest qualifier and he brought the speed into the main. He was fourth out of the first turn, was able to get by Vince Friese and started to chase down heat race winner Aaron Plessinger. Well, he didn’t have to chase long. Plessinger washed the front end and Jason took over second place.

Jett Lawrence – 3rd

Jett Lawrence was the biggest mover of the night. While Roczen and Anderson were running up front, Lawrence had to work his way up there. He was 9th after the first lap! After a little battle with big brother Hunter, he settled in behind Eli Tomac for nine laps. The crowd made it known when Jett was finally able to put the pass on Tomac to take the last step on the box. He now takes over the red plate from Chase Sexton and heads into Arlington TX

250 Podium

RJ Hampshire – 1st

RJ Hampshire was a little bit under the radar going into the main. There were two red plate holders, qualified third and finished his heat in 3rd. Maybe that was what he needed, the attention placed elsewhere. He put himself past Levi Kitchen into second and then a gift from Jordan Smith (crash), the leader lights clicked on for Hampshire and did not turn off. He is now only five points out of the lead.

Levi Kitchen – 2nd

Levi Kitchen was the co-red plate holder with Jordan Smith heading into Glendale. Leaving Glendale….points leader. We have seen with Kitchen when he gets a good start, he gets a good finish. He is showing consistency this year on his new Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team and it is paying off.

Jo Shimoda – 3rd

The year did not start off well for Shimoda considering the expectations. He fought with Jordan Smith in his heat taking 2nd. But it was another bad start in the main finishing the first lap in 7th. He had to work his way up to 4th and with Smith crashing, Shimoda was able to claim his first podium of the year. He is 32 points out of the lead and essentially out of the championship hunt. With that weight off his shoulders, does that mean more podiums and possible wins for the Honda rider?
